MELAKA TRISHAWS MUST STAY QUAINT AND LESS LOUD MUSIC

A visitor from Perth, Australia has complained that our Melaka trishaws are not as quaint as before.

Over decorated and some have loud music blaring out songs in high volume.

I must admit some of our trishaws are overly decorated. Make our trishaws nice and eye catching. Retain some uniqueness.

For music, some visitors may find the loud music disturbing to their ears. Try to turn down the volume so that visitors can enjoy the street sounds around the city.

COURTESY TO BOTH OVERSEAS AND LOCAL VISITORS IS IMPORTANT

MELAKA: Frontline service personnel will need to be pleasant and friendly as the state presses on to achieve its target of 17 million tourists by end of 2017 said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
“We do not want to see our image as a top tourist destination smeared just because a handful of service personnel are rude.
“Negative publicity affects our tourism industry and our relentless effort to make Melaka as the number one global holiday destination,” he said after a group of businessmen and hoteliers acknowledged Idris following Melaka’s achievement in receiving international recognition from reputable tourist portals between 2013 to 2017.

MELAKA: Melaka’s first full-fledged health-tourism centre, Satori Sanctuary in the City, will be developed in Bandar Hilir at a cost of RM300mil.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the mixed development project by Hatten Land Ltd, expected to be completed by 2020, would boost the state’s medical tourism industry.

The project, to be developed on 0.83ha, would house 50 nursing facilities and other healthcare services, besides a shopping mall, parking lots, 336 hotel rooms and 192 serviced residences.

“Some 160,000 tourists visit Melaka yearly for healthcare services and check in the private hospitals here.

“This project will add value or choice for tourists to seek more conducive treatment or healthcare services,” he told reporters after officiating the Satori-Sanctuary in the City in Melaka on Friday.

He said the project would also contribute to the increase in the state’s gross income and generate more jobs for the locals.

Meanwhile, Hatten Land group managing director, Datuk Colin Tan said Melaka was among the top three states in Malaysia that offered the best healthcare and personal care services, besides having a vast prospect in the medical tourism industry.

“The medical tourism industry in this country is booming every year and Melaka is among the best states in this industry,” he added. - Bernama

MELAKA TOP TEN ASIAN DESTINATION

MELAKA, July 19 — Melaka has been placed among the top 10 best tourism destinations in Asia 2017 by Lonely Planet, the largest travel guide book publisher in the world, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
With this, he said, credit must be given to Tourism Melaka and other related agencies for their efforts in promoting the state internationally.
“We are proud that we have been put on the same level as other world destinations such as Gungzhou city in China, Takayama (Japan), Raja Ampat (Indonesia) and others,” he said in a press conference held after chairing the state executive committee meeting at Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh, here today.
He said the recognition has placed Melaka on par with other tourism cities.
“The Malaysian government through the Ministry of Tourism and Culture has also recognised Melaka as the second tourism destination in the country,” he said.
He added that besides Lonely Planet, Melaka has also been recognised as an international tourism destination by others like The New York Times, tourism blogs and tripadvisor.com.
Idris said in the early days of promoting Melaka, the state government had been the subject of wild accusations by certain parties, but in the end, their efforts had managed to draw world attention.
He also lambasted claims on the social media that the level of cleanliness had deteriorated, saying that Melaka was still the cleanest and most beautiful state in the country.
“The claims and accusations are untrue... to date, I have not seen any report from any agency on this,” he said.
On a separate development, Idris said the Melaka state government conveyed its condolences to Negri Sembilan on the death of Lenggeng state assemblyman Datuk Ishak Ismail who died from a heart attack yesterday. — Bernama
