INVESTORS COMING BACK TO KEE ANN ROAD

For the last decade, some Kee Ann Road shop houses were left vacant or untenanted.

At least 4 shophouses are looking for tenants but they were not successful. 

Vedromall nearby was also looking for tenants since it was opened in 2021.

However, after the pandemic in 2022, some positive development has emerged.

Vedromall has some investors for its Capsule Hotel and an operator of the 180 basement car parks at Vedromall is also being sought.

Kampong Jawa has also started to be redeveloped by Poh Brothers recently. Traders have shifted out in end May 2023 and the tearing down of old stalls has started. 

A new hotel and other amenities will be built at Kampong Jawa.

At Kee Ann road, a corner shop has been bought over by a goldsmith owner. Renovation works have just started today.

Hopefully with the implementation of Melaka No Car Zone at the Heritage area every Saturday evenings from 6.00pm to 12.00 midnight, more visitors can park here and drive up the walking traffic.At least some positive development has begun for Kee Ann road.

LESS THAN 400-700m FROM VEDROMALL/KEE ANN ROAD TO HERITAGE ZONES

If you park your cars at Kee Ann road and later at Vedromall, you can walk safely to the heritage zones or Jonker Walk.

The distance is only about 660 m. 

PARK AT JLN KEE ANN DURING CAR FREE ZONE EVERY SATURDAY

From 19.8.2023, Melaka City Council has started to have a car free zone at Stadthuys and Dataran Merdeka on every Saturday from 6.00pm to 12.00 midnight. 

This car free zone is to allow visitors to walk to the historical area without having to look out for cars. 

Motorists are advised on traffic changed on Saturday evenings.

Cars can be parked at Jalan Bunga Raya, and Jalan Kee Ann. These roads are near to Jonker Walk just by crossing the Jambatan Pasar near to Vedromall.

Melaka begins trials of car-free zone on Sat evenings

Last Saturday, the Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah (MBMB) began the dry-run of its car-free zone evening, with some roads around Bandar Hilir being closed off to traffic from 6pm to midnight.

The vehicle-free zone will be implemented every Saturday from 6pm to 12 midnight as a trial run. The stretch involves Jalan Istana, Jalan Mahkamah, Jalan Gereja, Lorong Gereja, Jalan Laksamana as well as parts of Jalan Tun Khalil Yaakob and Jalan Merdeka.

It looks like the trial period for the car-free zone on Saturday evenings is set to continue, so those heading in to Melaka on weekends should take note of the road closures, which will be on Saturday, from 6pm to midnight.

REDEVELOPMENT OF KAMPONG JAWA HAS BEGUN

After the shifting out of shops from Kampung Jawa end May 2023, demolition works of stalls has begun for redevelopment.  

Seems that new owners,  POH Brothers want to build a hotel and other amenities. 

The boardwalk besides Melaka river has yet to be completed by the contractor concerned.

THE JETTY MELAKA

  

 

The Jetty Malacca is actually an unrealistic jetty project in Malacca, Malaysia due to the shallow sea level in the area which is not suitable for ships to habour. It used to be a fishing spot for Malaccan before converted and turned into one of Malacca’s hot spot night life entertainment, namely The Jetty.

MELAKA TO OFFER 23000 HOTEL ROOMS IN 2024

MALACCA: A total of 23,448 hotel rooms and homestays involving 510 premises including hotels, resorts, apartments and guest houses from various star ratings are ready to accommodate tourists’ demands in conjunction with the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024).

State Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman (pix) said 67 of the premises with rooms totalling 7,966 were registered with Melaka’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC).

“To ensure that the tourists receive the best service, the state government has set up a review committee for these tourist accommodation premises,” he told a press conference after the state assembly sitting at Kompleks Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh here today.

At the same time, he said there are new hotels under construction and are expected to start operations in January next year.

“Currently, it is estimated that five hotels are offering a capacity of not less than 500 rooms. I was informed some of these hotels are still under construction while others were completed in terms of structure, however, when it comes to room breakdown, it all depends on the interior designs.

“Regarding the star rating, it will only be awarded when the hotel is 100 per cent completed as there are many aspects to be fine-tuned, including kitchen, restaurant, spa, swimming pool, facilities for children and security,“ he said.

Commenting on the promotion of TMM2024 through Malaysian embassies abroad, Abdul Razak said the state government is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Wisma Putra.

“So far, we managed to collaborate with more than five countries. Even though we are unable to send our officers overseas, we continue to promote by placing brochures related to tourism in Melaka at the embassies,” he said. -Bernama
