GOODBYE 2014, WELCOME 2015

In a few hours, we will say goodbye to 2014 and welcome in the New Year 2015.

It has been a bad year for MALAYSIA as many unpredicted events occurred that affected MALAYSIA and Malaysians in general. 3 air disasters within one year are very bad. Started with the disappearance of MH 370, the shooting down of MH 17 and days before the end of 2014, we got the bad news of AirAsia plane going down in the Java sea due to a severe storm.

We were struck by landslides in Cameron highlands and before we know it, floods submerged Kelantan, Trengganu, Pahang, Perak and Johor. More than 250,000 people had to be evacuated from rising flood waters. Emergency supplies failed to reach the flood victims on time due to flooded roads, damaged roads, lack of power supply and clean water.

We hope 2015 will bring good news to MALAYSIA and Malaysians. Let the rain wash away our bad luck of 2014 so that we can start the New Year clean in our thoughts and action. Bless us in prosperity, harmony, and live together with tolerance and forgiveness.

Happy New Year to you.

I am an avid reader of your blog. I am Malaccan but live overseas. I go back to Melaka once a year. I like to read on updates about Melaka as when I lived in Melaka I took time to explore and see for myself. Now I cant do it anymore and its so nice to read about happenings in my hometown.

Just wondering besides the two gold coins, was more treasure found in Pulau Nangka?

Also is the monorail fully operating and safe? Last time I heard people had to b e hoisted down with cranes.

Any idea what's up with the Klebang beach now? Is it safe to jog there?

Cheers and thanks.

No more treasures found. The two coins seems to be planted. The monorail has been stopped. Klebang beach has been reclaimed and it is safe to jog there. Where are you located now?

Thanks for your reply. I'm in the Netherlands but will be flying back in a few days time. Yippie!

Melaka has changed so much in recent years, and I think it's for the better. I just love the greenery lining up The roads on the bridge to Melaka Raya, but I also do miss the old Klebang Beach before all the reclamation work. It used to be very rustic and now it is dusty and bare as I know of it last year.
