Hot air balloon  service way to  attract tourists

MELAKA: Melaka plans to offer hot air balloon services as part of the state’s tourism attractions, said the Melaka Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Sunday.

State EPU, in a statement, said Myballoon Adventure Sdn Bhd (MBA) was planning to offer the services based on the uniqueness of Melaka city apart from its location not far from Kuala Lumpur.

“This hot air balloon rides can be a new attraction for the Melaka tourism sector where tourists are able to enjoy the views of Melaka from the air.

“The state government supports this programme and hopes it will help Melaka to reach the target of 20 million tourists in conjunction with the Melaka Visit Year 2019,” the statement said.

MBA has conducted test run yesterday to determine the areas’ suitability for the hot balloon rides to ensure the passengers’ safety, from the Hang Jebat Stadium to Klebang, as the area has plenty of open space for safe landing. – Bernama

PETALING JAYA (April 21): Encore Melaka, a state-of-the-art theatre built by Yong Tai Bhd’s ambitious Impression City development in Melaka received the EdgeProp Editor’s Choice Award: Exemplary Real Estate Contribution to the Nation at this year’s EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards.

The awards gala night was held in a Petaling Jaya hotel today and officiated by Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin. 

Featuring the first Impression Series performances outside China, the theatre is recognised for its contribution to making Malaysia as a must-visit destination on the world cultural tourism map with performances that capture the heritage story of cultural diversity and inclusiveness in Melaka.

Encore Melaka also created an international platform for 200 local performers to realise their dreams in performing at the theatre, which features a 360-degree rotating audience platform with more than 2,000 seating capacity. 

Yong Tai CEO Datuk Wira Boo Kuang Loon, who is the mastermind of Encore Melaka and Impressions City, said winning the award is a first step for the developer to create value not only for the development but also for the society and the overall growth of Melaka to benefit Melakans.

“It is a great honour to us and it serves as recognition for those who has the vision to develop such a building with special usage. Even though it is challenging to develop a cultural tourism development such as this but it can be done with determination and perseverance,” he told EdgeProp.my.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 — AirAsia Bhd’s new direct flight from Penang to Melaka will start on July 1, 2019.

The budget airline said the flights will boost tourist arrivals to Melaka, helping to support the state government’s target to attract 20 million visitors in 2019.

In a statement today, AirAsia said in the quest to celebrate this milestone, the airline is offering free seats for the new route with all-in members fares from as low as RM12 for a one-way travel.

Chief executive officer Riad Asmat said with its Unesco world heritage listing and rich history, Melaka is a choice tourist destination Malaysia.

“This new route further strengthens our tourism footprint in Malaysia, providing more options for international visitors to travel between the states of Penang and Melaka.

“We look forward to continuing our work to explore even more new routes to Melaka from other parts of our Asean network,” he said.

To mark the occasion, AirAsia is offering its guests up to 50 per cent off hotels in Melaka or Penang, and an extra 5 per cent off using the promo code HOTEL5.
