Although the predecessor was located in Malacca, the "Anglo-Chinese College" established there in 1818 was not the "Anglo-Chinese School" in Malacca that exists today. The latter is a different school founded by the Methodists in the 1910s.
Therefore, the Malacca period is regarded as the root of Hong Kong's Ying Wa College. The school has also organized "root-seeking" visits to Malacca in recent years.
