ALOR GAJAH: The Melaka government will provide free rides to visitors who want to experience ecotourism along Sungai Linggi in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2024.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the offer would be available on weekends before the Sungai Linggi Eco-Cruise begins to operate officially on Jan 5.

“This eco-cruise will sail along Sungai Linggi, from the Paya Lebar Jetty until Taman Lokan, with the return journey taking about three hours.

“Visitors can visit Sabak Arang, where charcoal is made and which is about 100 years old,” he told Bernama after launching the Sungai Linggi Eco-Cruise here yesterday.

Ab Rauf said besides boat services along Sungai Linggi, the Paya Lebar Jetty also has a camper park.

“The camper park (at Paya Lebar Jetty) is the first of its kind in Melaka.

“It will be periodically upgraded based on feedback from caravan owners,” he said.

He added that one of the unique features of Sungai Linggi’s ecotourism is that it is the habitat for fireflies and nearly 1,400 crocodiles.
