Seven Per Cent GDP Growth Brings Positive Impact To Melaka - Tun Mohd Khalil

MELAKA, March 7 (Bernama) -- After registering a growth of seven per cent in its gross domestic product (GDP) last year, Melaka is setting a higher target this year.

"The success has indeed lured more investors to the state, especially in the fields like tourism, information communication technology, services, education and agro industry," he said when opening the state assembly sitting here Monday.

He said with the unemployment rate of only 2.4 per cent, he was confident that the people of Melaka would enjoy a better life and social status.

Mohd Khalil also call for extra focus to be given on capacity building programmes for the small and medium-scale entrepreneurs so that they would be able to compete and create their own success stories.

At the same time, he said that the state government was also planning to turn Melaka into a green technology city in line with the federal government's aspiration to see Melaka as an exemplary model.
